Sales Executive Salary in Chile: Base, Commissions & Sundays

What does a sales executive earn in Chile? Learn how base salary, commissions, Sunday pay, and bonuses work—plus what to ask before signing.

By the Ventaka team · Updated on · 4 min read

A sales executive in Chile earns on average around $805,692 per month according to Indeed, typically as a base salary plus commissions. If you work set hours, the base cannot be less than the minimum wage, and in addition to commissions, you're entitled to Sunday pay: payment for Sundays and public holidays based on your average variable earnings.

Sales executive job postings rarely explain how pay is structured. Here's each component—base, commissions, Sunday pay, bonuses and deductions—and what to ask so you don't get any surprises.

How much does a sales executive earn in Chile

By city, Concepción is the third-highest paying for sales executives, with around $910,155 per month on average, and in Santiago the average is around $815,187. Find more figures in sales salaries in Chile.

Base salary: what the law says

The minimum monthly wage is $553,553 as of May 1, 2026 (Law 21,830). For salespeople with commissions, the rule depends on your work schedule (Labor Code, art. 42 a, explained by the Labor Department):

  • With set hours: the base salary cannot be less than the minimum wage, and commissions are separate.
  • Excluded from set hours: commissions must reach the minimum, and if they don't, the employer pays the difference.

If a job posting offers "commission only" but requires you to work set hours, that's a red flag.

Commissions: what you need to know before signing

The law doesn't set commission amounts; your contract does. That's why you need to get this in writing:

  1. What it's calculated on: gross sales, net sales, margin, or what the customer actually pays.
  2. When it's earned and when it's paid: when the customer signs, when you invoice, or when you collect payment.
  3. If there are tiers or caps: percentages that increase when you hit targets, or a monthly maximum.
  4. What happens if the customer cancels or doesn't pay after you've already received commission.
  5. How much someone on the team earns on average after six months. This tells you if the commission is achievable.

Sunday pay explained

If your pay is base salary plus commissions, you're also entitled to Sunday pay (Labor Code, art. 45): you get paid for Sundays and public holidays based on your average variable earnings. In other words: even if you don't make a sale on Sunday, that day is still paid based on what you sold during the week.

What to do in practice:

  • Check that Sunday pay appears on your payslip alongside commissions.
  • If it doesn't appear, ask HR how it's being calculated and request a written explanation.
  • In the interview, ask directly: "How do you calculate Sunday pay?" It's a normal question and shows you know your rights.

Bonuses, deductions and net pay

  • Legal bonus: you're entitled to this too. Many companies pay it under article 50, which has an annual cap; ask which system they use and if it's paid monthly or annually. The calculation is in the salary guide.
  • Deductions: from your gross salary, deductions include pension contributions (AFP), health insurance (Fonasa or private isapre) and unemployment insurance, which with an indefinite contract is 0.6% from you and 2.4% from the employer. From August 2026 the employer also contributes 3.5% for the pension reform.
  • Net vs. gross: net is what hits your account; gross is before deductions. Job postings use one or the other, so always compare the same figure.
  • Work week: is 42 hours per week as of April 26, 2026 and drops to 40 in April 2028.

Checklist for reading a sales executive job offer

Before accepting the job, ask for written answers to these:

  1. Is the salary in the posting net or gross?
  2. What's the base salary and is it at least the minimum wage?
  3. How is commission calculated and when is it paid?
  4. How do they pay Sunday pay and bonuses?
  5. Is it an indefinite contract or fixed-term? Or are they asking for an invoice as an independent contractor with set hours and a manager? If there's subordination and dependence, the law presumes there's an employment contract (art. 8).
  6. Who pays for the phone, gas or travel if you work in the field?
