How to land a sales advisor job in Lima with no experience: entry-level positions, salaries with sources, where to apply, interview tips, and red flags to avoid.

To land a sales advisor job in Lima with no experience, apply for entry-level positions—in-store sales advisor, promoter, merchandiser, or telemarketing—and walk into the interview having practiced out loud the classic "sell me this pen" pitch. Before accepting, confirm the job is on payroll, because that determines your health insurance, bonuses, and severance pay. It's a good time to search: employment in Lima Metropolitan grew 6.1% between June and August 2026, and commerce added 66,700 positions, according to INEI data. Here are the concrete steps.

Es un buen momento para buscar: el empleo en Lima Metropolitana creció 6.1 % entre junio y agosto de 2026 y el comercio sumó 66,700 puestos, según datos del INEI. Estos son los pasos concretos.

What positions to target if you have no experience

  • Sales advisor: the entry-level role; sells in-store, at a kiosk, by phone, or in the field.
  • Sales promoter: promotes a brand in supermarkets, stores, or trade fairs.
  • Merchandiser: organizes and stocks products at the point of sale.
  • Telemarketing or call center advisor: sells or retains customers by phone; part-time and full-time shifts available, useful if you're studying.
  • Business advisor: places loans at finance companies and credit unions by visiting businesses and selling loans.

How much you'll earn starting out

The legal reference is the minimum vital wage: S/ 1,130 per month for full-time work. The Government announced raising it to S/ 1,300, but as of September 2026 the decree has not been published. In sales, the norm is a base salary plus commission, and on payroll you also receive bonuses and severance. You'll find all the figures in how much a sales advisor earns in Peru.

Where to apply

  • Computrabajo: LATAM's largest job portal, widely used for retail, call center, and entry-level sales.
  • Bumeran: Commercial and Sales are among their areas with the most listings.
  • Indeed Peru: in addition to job postings, it helps you compare salaries by position, city, and company.
  • LinkedIn: for B2B sales and remote work.
  • MTPE Labor Exchange: the official and free job board from the Ministry of Labor.

Companies with open positions or published sales salaries in 2025–2026: Pacífico Seguros, BBVA Peru, Claro, Entel, Falabella, Alicorp, PedidosYa, Assist Card, Financiera Proempresa, and Konecta.

Two-week plan to stand out

  1. Days 1–2: One-page CV. Put the exact job title at the top ("Sales Advisor," "Sales Promoter") and turn what you've already done—customer service at a store, restaurant, family business, social media sales—into achievements with numbers: customers per day, orders, targets met. If you don't have the exact figure, use an estimate you can explain.
  2. Days 3–4: Learn the basic process. Greet, ask what the customer needs, connect the product to that need, and ask for the close.
  3. Days 5–14: Apply every day to a set number of positions, adapting your CV title. Record the company, position, date, and response.
  4. Every day: Practice out loud handling objections like "it's too expensive" and "I'll think about it." Record yourself on your phone and listen to whether you asked questions before pitching.
  5. A week after applying, reach out to companies that didn't respond.

The interview: prepare to sell in the moment

Common questions in Peru: "How do you handle a customer who says 'it's too expensive' or 'I'll think about it'?", "How do you organize your day to hit your monthly target?", and "Are you okay with a base salary plus commission? What's your salary expectation?" And often: "sell me this pen."

  1. Don't start by talking about the pen. Ask: "When was the last time you used a pen? What for?"
  2. Listen to the problem: signing documents, losing them, having them fail in front of a client.
  3. Connect: "With this one, that won't happen to you in front of a client."
  4. Close: "Will you take it?" or "How many do you need for your team?"

Red flags to avoid

  • Very high salary with no experience: SUNAFIL warns that these offers may hide forced labor, document retention, or invented debts.
  • "Commission only," with no payroll or pay stub, even if they set your hours.
  • They charge you for training, uniform, or materials to start.
  • You earn more by recruiting people than by selling, or they contact you via WhatsApp from an unknown number with a suspicious link.
  • Receipts for services with set hours, a boss, and penalties: this may be a hidden employment relationship. We explain it in payroll or receipt for services?

More red flags in job scams in Peru. And if Lima isn't your only option, also check the data for Arequipa, where a sales advisor earns an average of about S/ 1,366 per month. You'll find the city page at sales in Lima.
